With DiRT 5 due to release on November 6th, (November 3rd if you buy "Amplified" Edition) Gear Heads throughout the gaming community are edge with mounds of anticipation! The DiRT franchise has been pumping out some incredible titles in the past under the Codemasters umbrella, so surely DiRT 5 won't disappoint! With all of the pre-release hype, comes the possibility of disappointment... As someone who has had the opportunity to get my hands on the "Playgrounds" game mode, I can tell that the game won't be a disappointment. Luckily for the community, the developers have seemingly thought of "everything" with this new release. The goal of any game developer is to build a game that a community can truly *rally* around, and not get burnt out playing after only a few months. I personally believe that our friends at Codemasters have done just that! Now, having said that, I have NOT gotten my hands on the full game yet, but I am hopeful that I will be getting it soon.

It has been confirmed that we will be getting ten all-new locations from the Moroccan Desert, to the Frozen River in New York City! Along with those ten amazing locations, we will have access to 13 different vehicle classes with vehicles ranging from Rock Crawlers to Retro Rally cars! Now I am aware that other games have car lists that are FAR larger, however, in my opinion... It's not the size of the list, but more, the quality of the vehicles provided. I don't want or need 700 cars to drive. I would much rather have a super solid list of vehicles that are challenging, and fun to drive. Being someone who has seen some of the vehicles that are in the game, (not all, but some of them) I am optimistic, and very pleased with what I have seen so far. I didn't get to drive all of them, but I was able to see the classes, and a number of the vehicles, and I am excited by the options!

The question of "Will DiRT 5 Stand The Test Of Time" has been asked a few times by some of the people in my community. In short... My answer is simply, Yes! A game that has been developed with the gaming community in mind first, it is more likely than not that the game will be an massive hit for most people! Of course we all know that everyone isn't going to be happy... Just look at the current state of society... You cannot please everybody! I digress... But what the developers have done so well at with this game, is they have made sure that there is a ca list, a location list, and a game modes list that offers something for everyone! While I am obsessed with a pure rally car, some of you may not be as excited by those, but you may be really hyped up about the trucks and buggies. Well, well... Lucky us. There are lots of trucks, SUV's and buggies to play around with in the mud!

Along with the great vehicles list and classes comes some of the most fun game modes of any DiRT game in the past! Not only are we getting one of the best game modes introduced to a racing game ever in "Playgrounds", we are also getting a plethora of in-game routes and racing types!

Game Modes

*Landrush: A circuit-based mode with rough terrain and weather/track conditions changing up at a moments notice.

*Rally Raid: A point to point race with split routes for extreme off-road vehicles.

*Ice Breaker: Circuits entirely on ice with drifting being crucial to success.

*Stampede: Unmarked route layout played on extreme landscapes.

*Pathfinder: A new game mode where controlled speed and strategy are called for as players are tasked with attempting hardcore off-road terrain.

*Sprint: 900 HP Sprint cars raced around circular dirt tracks.(what could go wrong?)

*Ultra Cross: Amped up Rallycross racing.

So again, you can see that there is no shortage of fun to be had in this new and exciting game, and I haven't even touched on the Playgrounds game mode! (yet) I have watched all of the pre-release videos and streams from the developers, and not only do the game modes look like a ton of fun, but the game itself looks stunning! They have now implemented dynamic weather that can change at a moments notice while in a race! Not only does the weather change, but so do the roads that you are racing on! Sunny day turns cloudy, grey, and rainy? Better slow down a little earlier before that next hairpin! Light snow turns to a blizzard? Welp... Try your best to not slide off into a ditch, or worse, down a cliff side! You see, simply changing a games weather while simultaneously changing it's physics does a number of things for the player. But most importantly, it makes the player feel as-if they are picking up a whole new game when they start a new race because they simply don't know what is going to be thrown at them. It helps keep the game and the experience fresh, and exciting.

Now onto my favorite aspect of DiRT 5. Playgrounds! Codemasters has rolled out what I have called the "greatest game mode added to a racing game" quite a few times! Playgrounds is an in-game mode that gives the player 100% control of the world around them, and provides the player a platform to put their creativity to the ultimate test! With hundreds of options in the creator, you sort of have the world at your fingertips! The Playgrounds creator allows you to build and race some of the most difficult custom built routes you could imagine! From custom rallycross routes, to absolutely insane narrow "roads" hundreds of feet off the ground! The sky is quite literally the limit! When I had early access to the Playgrounds demo, I had built four or five custom events. The first one was a rallycross type track that was a tight and twisty route in the Cape Town stadium. By the time I had the game and practiced a bit, I was building insane 5 lap circuits when there isn't even an option for circuits! As I eluded to previously, your route is only limited by your imagination!

Playgrounds has a few different build types.

Gate Crasher, which is basically checkpoint racing with a start and finish line. I did figure out a way to build these routes into circuits and will have a video of that linked here for you all to watch if you would like to see how I did it!

Smash Attack is a game mode where you still create a race, or event, but you have to find and collect objects or items in the arena in the quickest time possible. Along with those items to collect, you can place time penalty items that give the player a penalty if they hit them!

Gymkhana is an option where you can finally create your very own Gymkhana event for you to throw down your biggest and best skills scores! Drift pads, jumps, and more!

After you have built your dream event, you then get to chose the vehicle theme, and share it for the community so they can try their hand at your route and see where they rank on the worldwide leaderboard! Playgrounds is an absolute game changer, and other racing franchises should take note! Along with Playgrounds, there is an in-game photo mode with some really great options to get some really incredible pictures! Virtual photographers unite!!!

DiRT 5 is on pace to be one of the biggest racing games in the past few years, especially since they are releasing along with the much anticipated Xbox Series X. Oh, by the way... If you can't quite afford a Series X just yet, you can still buy DiRT 5 for your Xbox One, and you will be able to upgrade to the Series X version of the game completely free once you upgrade your console! I'm telling you... Codemasters has quite literally built this game with the community in mind! Of course the game won't be perfect, and will certainly have its fair share of issues at first, but one thing I have noticed about the devs is that they genuinely care about community feedback, and make sure that their games are always up to date, and running smoothly. So again, I do think that DiRT 5 has the probability of withstanding the test of time. We don't know what will be released in the way of updates in the future of course, but I feel as-if the game will not "die" as people in the gaming community so often say! I am genuinely looking forward to all that the game will have to offer, and I hope you are all looking forward to is as well.

I am hoping that I will get early access to the full game, but I have yet to hear anything back from Codemasters, but I am patiently waiting with my fingers and toes crossed! I really cannot wait to start pumping out the DiRT 5 content sooner rather than later, because as I have said, the game is going to be fantastic! Do yourselves a favor and go ahead and pre-order the game now, and don't forget to buy the Amplified Edition so you can play early on November 3rd!

As always, thank you for reading, and for supporting my community! Please be sure to subscribe to my Youtube channel, and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook @ ConnerSpeed6.
